Find your way around the design studio

The design studio is where your invitation takes shape. Learn the top bar, the four panels, the section toolbar and how to add your photos.

Updated

The design studio is where you change how your invitation looks and what it says. Everything you change shows right away in the preview, and the studio saves as you go. There is no separate save button.

To open it, go to your invitation and choose Design Studio in the menu (Studio on a phone).

How the studio is laid out

The design studio: a top bar, a panel on the left with four tabs, and a preview of the invitation on the rightStyleContentSectionsShare

The studio has three parts:

  • The top bar runs along the top.
  • The panel on the left has four tabs: Style, Content, Sections and Share.
  • The preview fills the rest. It shows your invitation exactly as guests will see it.

The top bar

  • Undo and Redo step back and forward through your changes.
  • The save status tells you where things stand: All changes saved, Saving…, Unsaved changes or Couldn't save. If you see Couldn't save, check your connection. Your next change tries again.
  • Desktop, Tablet and Phone switch the preview between screen sizes. Most guests open invitations on their phones, so check the Phone view before you share.
  • Open live site opens your invitation the way a guest sees it, in a new tab.

The four panels

Style

Colours, fonts and the overall look. Pick one of the Curated palettes, choose from the Font pairings and set the Text size. Your template, monogram, opening animation and template effects live here too.

Content

The words on your invitation: your names, the date and venues, your story, FAQs, entourage and more. Each section of your invitation has its own group of fields.

Sections

Every section of your invitation, in page order. Use the arrows to move a section up or down, and the eye icon to show or hide it. A hidden section keeps its content, so you can bring it back any time.

Share

How guests get to your invitation: your link, the QR code, the RSVP-only page and how your link looks when you send it in a chat.

Edit a section right on the preview

A section picked on the invitation preview, with a floating toolbar showing Background, Text and ButtonsBackgroundTextButtons

Click any section in the preview. Two things happen:

  1. A toolbar appears over that section.
  2. The panel on the left jumps to that section's fields.

The toolbar changes only the section you picked:

  • Background sets the section's colour or background image.
  • Text sets the colour of headings and text.
  • Buttons styles the section's buttons, like the RSVP button.

A section only shows the tabs it can use. To undo everything you changed in one section, use the reset button, Reset section to template default. Click the × to close the toolbar.

Add and change photos

Photos are added where they are used: your cover photo and gallery in the Content panel, a section's background under Background in the section toolbar.

  1. Click the upload box, or drag a photo onto it (Click or drag to upload).
  2. Use a JPG, PNG or WebP file. Photos can be up to 5 MB on the free plan and up to 10 MB on Premium.
  3. Wait for Upload complete!. The photo appears in the preview straight away.

To choose which part of a photo shows, pick its section in the preview and click Reposition photo (or Reposition background). Drag the photo until the part you want sits in the frame, then press Enter. On a keyboard, the arrow keys move it too.

To swap a photo, remove it with Remove and upload a new one.

Colours and fonts

Three colour palettes beside a pair of fontsAaAa

Every template comes with palettes and fonts made for it. Open Style and pick a palette. The whole invitation changes colour at once. Fonts work the same way under Font pairings.

Custom colours and custom fonts are part of Premium. On the free plan you can use your template's own look.

On a phone

The studio works on your phone too. The preview fills the screen. Tap Design to open the panels (Style, Content, Sections and Share). Tap a section in the preview to open its own sheet with Background, Text and Buttons.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to press save?

No. The studio saves as you work. Wait for All changes saved before you close the tab.

When do guests see my changes?

Once your invitation is published, saved changes reach your live invitation. A change can take up to a minute to show for guests.

I made a mistake. How do I go back?

Use Undo in the top bar. To start a section over, pick it in the preview and use Reset section to template default.

Can I change the order of the lines on my cover?

On the Heirloom template, yes. Open Style, then Heirloom Settings, and find Cover Arrangement under Hero. Use the arrows to move the date and time, your intro line, your names, the venues, your welcome message or the countdown up or down. Reset order puts them back the way they started. Your photo stays where it is.

Can I switch templates later?

Yes. Open Style and choose a different template. Your words and photos stay.
