Choose how your link looks in chats

When you send your invitation link in Messenger, Viber or WhatsApp, the chat shows a card with a photo, your names and a line of text. Here is how to make that card yours.

Updated

Paste your invitation link into a chat and, before anyone taps it, the chat shows a small card: a photo, your names, your date and a line of text. That card is your social preview. It is often the first thing guests see of your wedding, so Ceremo lets you choose its photo, its layout and its words.

The social preview is part of Premium.

Open the social preview

  1. Open your invitation in the design studio.
  2. Go to the Share tab and click Social Preview ("Customize how your link looks when shared").

You can also open it from the menu at the top of the preview: under When you share it, choose Social preview.

The preview then shows your card the way a chat will. Switch between Preview, Messenger and WhatsApp to see it in each.

Step 1: Pick a photo

Under Photo, the card uses your invitation cover until you choose otherwise (Using your invitation cover). Add a photo there to change only the link preview. Your invitation keeps its own cover.

To go back to your cover, remove the photo you added.

Step 2: Pick a layout

Six card layouts: Split, Cinematic, Framed, Postcard, Date hero and Grand, with Split pickedSplitCinematicFramedPostcardDate heroGrand

Under Layout, choose how the photo, your names and your date sit on the card: Split, Cinematic, Framed, Postcard, Date hero or Grand. The preview changes as you click, so try a few.

Step 3: Write the words

Under Words, set the text that appears below the image in chats:

  • Title, the bold line. Leave it empty to use your names.
  • Line under it, a short sentence, like "Join us as we celebrate our love."

The names and date on the image itself come from your invitation, so they always match.

When you send a group its own RSVP link from your Guest List, the card's title starts with that group's name, like "Santos Family — Michael & Zhaira's Wedding". Guests see the preview is meant for them before they even open it. You don't need to turn anything on.

Chat apps keep their own copy of a preview the first time a link is shared. So a change you make now does not always reach links you sent earlier:

  • Facebook and Messenger: new shares update within minutes of a save. Click Refresh Facebook to ask Facebook to look again right away.
  • WhatsApp keeps its copy for up to a week. Nobody can ask it to look again.
  • iMessage, Viber and Telegram read it fresh with every message.

Set up your preview before you start sending links, and every guest gets the card you chose.

When you are happy with it, click Copy link and paste it into your chats.

Frequently asked questions

Does changing the preview photo change my invitation?

No. A photo you add under Photo is used only for the link preview.

I changed my preview but Messenger still shows the old one.

Click Refresh Facebook, then share the link again. The new card shows on new shares within minutes.

Messenger shows my link with no photo at all.

Make sure your invitation has a cover photo, or add one under Photo. Then click Refresh Facebook and share the link again. A link shared before the refresh keeps the old card.

Why does WhatsApp still show my old card?

WhatsApp keeps a copy for up to a week and cannot be asked to update it. New chats pick up the new card once its copy expires.

Can I use the social preview on the free plan?

The custom social preview is part of Premium. On the free plan your link still shows a card made from your invitation.
