Keep your invitation private with a password
Add a password so only guests you give it to can open your invitation, and choose whether personal RSVP links need it too.
Updated
Want your invitation seen only by the people you invite? Give it a password. Anyone who opens your link sees a password page first, and only guests who know the password get through to your invitation.
Password protection works on every plan, free and Premium.
Set a password
- Open your invitation's Overview.
- Click Event Settings ("Names, side labels & access").
- Under Password, type your password. It needs at least 6 characters.
- Click Set.
You will see Password set, and the Password section now shows Protected.
Pick something easy to say and type on a phone, like your hashtag or your date. You will be sharing it with a lot of people.
What guests see
Guests who open your link see a password page. They type the password and tap View Invitation. After too many wrong tries, the page asks them to wait before trying again.
Send the password along with your link, for example in the same message or on your printed invitation.
Personal RSVP links
Each guest group's personal RSVP link skips the password by default. Those links are already private: only the group you sent it to has it.
To make RSVP links ask for the password too, open Event Settings and tick Also require password for RSVP links.
Change or remove the password
Open Event Settings. Under Password:
- Click Change to set a new password. Guests need the new one from then on.
- Click Remove to open your invitation to anyone with the link.
Frequently asked questions
I set a password but I still see my invitation without it. Is it broken?
No. You and your co-owners skip the password while you are signed in, on any device. To see the password page the way a guest does, click Open it as a guest under Password in Event Settings, or open your link in a private browser window.
Can I embed a password-protected RSVP form in Canva?
No. A password-protected invitation cannot be embedded on another website. Remove the password first, or link to your RSVP page with a button. Guests then type the password before they answer.
What still shows when I share the link?
The link preview in chats, with your names, date and cover card. Everything on the invitation itself stays behind the password.
